The Chairman’s Message

Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikai

Mine are the blessed shoulders on which Gandhiji’s protective and patronising hand once rested. In my youth, I thus used to stroll with Gandhiji–the gentle, compassionate touch of his hand giving my youthful shoulders strength of conviction to follow his path. As a symbolism, this gesture bears tremendous significance for me even today. Gandhiji’s was the hand of a metaphorical father, the hand of a potter, eager to mould the destiny of an ardent child.

Decades later, we at Gandhi Research Foundation are striving to extend the reach of this hand, so that it can enwrap the mindset of the youth today, the same way in which it did mine.

Indeed, if Gandhiji’s ideals can appeal and awaken the collective conscience of the contemporary world, the world will become a better place to live in.

My father, Dada Dharmadhikari had said, “Gandhiji’s legacy is the yardstick of measuring humanity’s true worth. Gandhiji’s thoughts, actions and prophesies give tremendous depth and dimension to human standpoint”.

Preserving and spreading Gandhiji’s legacy in a tangible, generative manner is the avowed mission of this Foundation. I drive great sense of purpose in being a dedicated missionary.
